The three chairs were developed as part of a project dealing with the theme of “work”. My interest deliberately focused on the contrast between work and boredom, idleness, and sitting.

The chair Philosopher reflects relaxation, reading, and doing nothing. Boredom and humor play a central role here. Light in construction and gently flexible, it conveys a playful and carefree form of sitting.

The chair Secretary represents the opposite: unstable, uncomfortable, and excessively flexible, it oscillates between usability and unusability, between stability and instability. In doing so, it operates at the threshold between sculpture and furniture, between function and form.

The chair Federal President addresses authority. It asks what kind of power or presence a user gains by sitting in a chair. Scale, lines of sight, and humor interact here: the chair playfully negotiates the balance between dominance and subordination.
