kontogleichheit eingeführt! morgen mach ich blau...
installation, 2019
The working process of “Kontogleichheit eingeführt! (Account equality introduced!)” began with the reflection of Mladen Stilinovic’s thoughts on the praise of laziness. In the mid-1970s, Stilinovic postulated that Western artists were incapable of producing art because they were bound to the capitalist, institutional and galleristic production system, which left them no time to be lazy. They had degenerated into producers of products to be sold on the art market. He argued that artists from communist countries had no buyers for their artworks; they only made art for art’s sake. In response to Mladen’s work, I have tried to use humorous texts in the artist’s book to bring emotional distance to the contemporary criticism of the prevailing capitalist system, which is rightly charged with seriousness.
